What kills laptops? Heat!
Use 2 plastic tops of water bottles under the hinges of your laptop to get some air between it and the table. The plastic dust caps that ship with Mac video cables are also a pefect size.
Totally low tech, no cost, and it will disperse that heat and give ya a nice typing angle.
